Got My First ENS Domain! Here’s My Experience

So yesterday I bought my first .eth domain! Obviously, ENS has existed since a long time ago and it’s nothing new. And I’m not writing this to raise awareness about ENS. It’s simply just my experience.

What I loved most about it is that the registration process was beyond simple and the team behind ENS has done a great job creating a proper UI that’s very simple and easy to navigate. I just jumped in on the app, connected it to my MetaMask wallet and I was good to go.

Another thing I absolutely loved about the domain is that they’ve done some interesting work to make it similar to Unstoppable Domains. In UD, your domain can act as a digital business card. Not only can you connect it to your address but you can also put other information on it such as a bio or a website. To my surprise, ENS supports such features too that are directly integrated on Ethereum L1. I could pick a name, bio, website, put other addresses, and even add custom fields to my address. And the beauty of all of it is that it’s all stored on the blockchain! It’s immutable and permanent (well so long as I’m renewing the domain).

What I didn’t like too much was obviously paying gas fees for updating the information on the domain but I still prefer that because this is a decentralized application and I know my information is my information and so long as that domain is mine, the ownership of it remains with me.

So to summarize the experience, it was quick, efficient, and I absolutely loved it! I’m going to dive deeper into some of the other features it has such as adding subdomains later but my first interaction with it was just absolutely stunning! We really need more dApps that are simple to use with a very good and user-friendly interface.
